💎18ct 'Dogstooth' Sapphire Crystal Polished.

18ct Dogstooth Sapphire. 
The owner would like to sell it as an already set (9ct gold) polished 18 carat dogs tooth. The Gem was found approximately 20 years ago at Glenalva.
I have taken the gem out of the setting to be able to make an assessment if the Sapphire itself.
🌻20 years ago, a groove was carved around the near the top of the gem in order to be able to push the gold setting Into the Groove which was also Araldited in.
While I'm not a great fan of doing this, it is a secure method and was done many years ago.
I needed to be able to look at the gem in it's entirety, and to assess for the option that a gem cutter may like to a facet the stone into two or three gems.
The gold setting or a new one can be replaced if a purchaser would prefer it set 'as is' . 
Personally I think that there are two beautiful faceted stones in this amazing Sapphire, although I do think it'd be wonderful to keep it in its current state, maybe with a bit of an extra polish and an updated setting ( I do quite like the 'saddle style' setting for dogstooth sapphires though).
There is a small fracture about halfway down the gem which probably goes in about a third of the way.
There is some bronze silk on table.
All in all it's an absolutely amazing sapphire crystal and a wonderful collectors piece.

There is a certificate available for this gem in its setting.
